Rocking Motherhood Challenge

By Lisa, 11 May, 2017

I have been invited to join in on the Rocking Motherhood Challenge by my new friend, Heather. I encourage you to check out her amazing blog at Glitteronadime.com

Thank you Heather for nominating me!

This Rocking Motherhood Challenge is definitely a challenge for me. If you had said name 10 failures of motherhood, I could write all day. The mommy guilt of a working mom can sometimes be so overwhelming that you forget to stop and think about all the things you are doing right in their little lives. It has been a great exercise for me to reflect on those things…..

Here is my list of the 10 ways that I am rocking motherhood:

  1. I am a full time working Mommy. I love my job and it’s important to me! I of course have the mom guilt from time to time. I am blessed to be able to work from home on Fridays with her, its a little more added quality time with her. The work life balance can be difficult but I know that I am setting a good example for my daughter.
  2. We spend A LOT of quality time with our daughter. I say that because I am not trying to brag or show anyone up. We love it though! It is so much fun to watch her develop and learn. People from day one have told me how quickly this time flies. So I have learned to soak up every moment, she will not be this little forever. We live in the moment with our daughter and we love every single moment.
  3. We read to our daughter every day. I know this is part of the quality time, but we really feel that reading to your child is important, even if it is the same book over and over!
  4. I am an organized planner. I have to be organized in order for our household to run efficiently. Whether it’s planning a day of adventure or getting lunches ready the night before. Structure and routines are not only good for us parents but good for our children as well.
  5. I enjoy dressing my daughter up, but I do it on a budget. Little girls are so much fun to dress! I am constantly picking up little things here and there to make her outfits complete. I am always looking for sales and a good bargain!
  6. I have learned how to stand up to people and set boundaries and limitations for our family. We are a much happier family now. We do not ask for people for advice when it comes to our daughter. Each child is different, and we live in a different world today. We love our pediatrician and we respect her opinions and advice when it comes to our daughter.
  7. I nursed my little girl until she was 13.5 months. My start off goal was 3 months, then 6, then 12. That by far was one of the biggest challenges of Mommy hood for me. I went through some struggles in the beginning and pumped a lot and I also cried over spilled milk! It takes time and dedication. I am so proud of myself for sticking with it!
  8. I love to spoil my daughter, but I do it within reason. I do not want my daughter to grow up thinking the materialistic things in life are all that matters. I refuse to “buy” the love for my child to keep her happy. She is well taken care of and with LOTS of love and that is all she needs!
  9. I strive to keep my daughter safe. We hold hands in public places and in parking lots. All of our cabinets are locked up so that chemicals and medicines are not in reach of our child. Our stairs are gated and all of our furniture is secured to the walls. My daughter’s privacy is very important to me and we made the decision before she was born to keep our daughters life private.
  10. I love my baby girl unconditionally and I will make sure she knows it!

Thanks for reading my thoughts!  Now, I would like to nominate four more fellow moms to keep this #RockingMotherhood challenge going! Check out these amazing Mom's blogs!

Great post! Heather nominated me too! With my first baby I had similar nursing goals , of 3 months, 6 months etc, too. I wanted to give myself small goals since nursing can be difficult and can take time to master. I didn't want to set my self up for disappointment. Rock on mama!! Cheers

Thank you Amy for stopping by and commenting! I think that was seriously what got me through nursing (setting small goals.) Thank you so much for your support!!

Thank you so much for including me! You are an incredible mother and an even better person. I will try my best to keep this going! It might take me a while to come up with 10 things. :/ I'll do my best!

Thank you Sydney for stopping by and commenting! You are so sweet and I appreciate the kind words. You are doing an amazing job with your little girl! Happy 1st Mother's Day!
